FGV Projetos record in developing projects and studies on biofuels is noteworthy. Experts on the subject point out the feasibility of producing biofuels in several countries, and recommend location--specific investments throughout the production chain. This would allow countries seeking to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, such as oil, to diversify their energy sources in order to increase employment in the countryside and to improve their trade balance. This document provides a summary both of the completed and the ongoing work in this connection, based on feasibility studies for biofuels production in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.
