VII World Economy and Brazil

As part of their contribution to the knowledge exchange on Brazil’s role in the world economy, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce organized the seventh edition of World Economy and Brazil, a breakfast meeting with Mr. Alejandro Werner, Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The organizers were FGV Projetos, the technical advisory unit of FGV and by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, with the media partnership of Financial Times.

Dr. Cesar Cunha Campos, Director of FGV Projetos, opened the event, followed by Dr. Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, President of FGV, who spoke about Geopolitics in the Brazilian context. Next, Mayor of São Paulo, Bruno Covas, explained the dynamics of Doing Business in São Paulo. Mr. Alejandro Werner, Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), presented an Overview of the World Economy with emphasis in Latin America. Professor Carlos Geraldo Langoni, Director of World Economy Center of FGV, Senior Advisor of FGV Projetos and Former President of the Central Bank of Brazil, addressed the Economic Scenarios of Brazil.

The guests were a select group of leading executives and government representatives, interested in matters important to Brazil’s long-term growth.
