Launch of the 2nd edition of the work “Direito Privado: Teoria e Prática” (Private Law: Theory and Practice) | Minister Luis Felipe Salomão
The Minister of the Superior Court (STJ) Luis Felipe Salomão held, in August, three events to launch the second edition of his book “Direito Privado Teoria e Prática”, supported by FGV Projetos and Editora Forense.
The first event took place on August 18, in the Law School of Universidade de São Paulo (USP - University of São Paulo), and a lecture about “Arbitration and mediation” was given, the people who participated were the Associate Judge Antônio Carlos Mathias Coltro, President of the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE/SP), José Horácio Halfeld Ribeiro, President of the São Paulo Lawyers Institute (IASP), José Rogério Cruz e Tucci, Director of Law at USP, Marcos Paulo de Almeida Salles, USP professor, and Roberto Rosas, professor of Universidade de Brasília (University of Brasília). The audience was authorities such as Fábio Prieto, President of the Federal Court of Appeals of the 3rd Region, and the Associate Judge Artur Marques da Silva Filho, President of the Private Law Section of the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo (TJSP).
In Rio de Janeiro, on August 25, the launch took place in the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), and was attended by authorities such as the ministers of the Superior Court (STJ) Jorge Mussi, Benedito Gonçalves and Marco Aurélio Bellizze, the minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and Superior Electoral Court (TSE) Luiz Fux, and the President of TJRJ Leila Mariano.
In Belo Horizonte, on August 29, the launch in the Court of Justice of the State of Minas Gerais (TJMG) started with a presentation of the associate judge Pedro Carlos Bittencourt Marcondes, President of TJMG. On the same occasion, the subject of the lecture given by minister Salomão was “Brief Aspects of the Consumer Law and Case Law of the Superior Court”, followed by a debate with Luís Cláudio Chaves, President of OAB/MG (Brazilian Bar Association/Minas Gerais), Rodolfo Viana Pereira and Juliana Cordeiro de Faria, professors at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG - Federal University of Minas Gerais).
After the debate, the associate judge Edgard Penna Amorim made a presentation about his book.
With over 20 years of experience in the private law field, the Minister Luis Felipe Salomão uses his experience to analyze the theoretical basis of the main case law concepts, with the purpose of facilitating the subject’s understanding. In the book, the banking law, Consumer Defense Code, civil liability, family law and intellectual property are emphasized. For the second edition, the minister wrote two unpublished chapters about ownership and property and pain and suffering and updated the chapters about consumer law, family law, among others.
